I thought about deleting this tell-all several times and I'm still not sure why I decided to write about it but Fat Talk has held me back for most of my life. Sometimes the only way out is through, right? I am only as sick as my secrets.
Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18368318730124533690noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-942892890615806086.post-81302665614399322512014-02-22T11:55:23.639-06:002014-02-22T11:55:23.639-06:00Alison, if it weren't for sighing, we'd al...Alison, if it weren't for sighing, we'd all forget to breathe or we might explode. Alcoholism, in my opinion, is one manifestation of a deep emotional scar. I never took up drinking, but I do understand the need to bury the pain.

Thank you, Indie, your support is invaluable, and rest assured I'll be sighing for the rest of my life.

Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18368318730124533690noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-942892890615806086.post-44690194981442197222014-02-22T10:15:23.272-06:002014-02-22T10:15:23.272-06:00Karen, I am so sorry you had to deal with such abu...Karen, I am so sorry you had to deal with such abuse. Know that you are an intelligent, beautiful, and hard-working woman and a great wife and mother (and daughter to your mom). You turned out great despite adversity. You rose above!Bethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09792341123595520130noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-942892890615806086.post-39327007050166380282014-02-21T22:14:55.589-06:002014-02-21T22:14:55.589-06:00You are so brave. So brave to allow yourself to relive all those experiences with your dad; so brave to write about them; so brave to share them with anyone who reads your blog; so brave to jump on a tractor to plow your mom's driveway; so brave to ski in blowing snow when you're sinking deeper with every move; and so brave to have created, with your loving husband, a quarry garden that the rest of us can only dream about visiting. I am in awe.

And I'm sure that the weight you've shed from your shoulders by facing your life's story and speaking it aloud here will drop off your body until you are the grown-up version of the beautiful young woman your father failed to acknowledge many years ago. Truly, I am in awe.Charadehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16461603001722068211noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-942892890615806086.post-84002744293052602802014-02-21T22:07:04.699-06:002014-02-21T22:07:04.699-06:00How terrible. My father had quite the temper (he's mellowed a lot, thankfully) and also didn't believe in crying (don't cry or else I'll give you something to cry about was one of his mantras), but he would never deliberately endanger us. Feel free to sigh all you want online - trying to heal from something like that takes a long long time. *HUGS*Indiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14004102653896371835noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-942892890615806086.post-72719585554875334842014-02-21T18:38:45.034-06:002014-02-21T18:38:45.034-06:00What a nightmare you lived through growing up. But he did plenty of the same ranting and raving about all the perceived injustices of the world. My husband, my son and I are all inveterate sighers. You should hear us, when we get together it sounds like a machine under pressure letting off steam.Alisonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16323262555906240701noreply@blogger.com
