Spring Has Sprung

The snow finally melted!

Time is flying, as always, and now that Spring appears to be officially here, I've jumped into the work that needs doing Right Now with my usual scatterbrained efficiency.  Once again, my perennial case of GADS (Gardener's Attention Deficit Syndrome for short)  is also back.  I find myself going to the barn for potting soil only to notice the chickens need a refill on their water jug which leads me to the outdoor faucet where I see a few quack grass shoots emerging which leads me back to the barn to get a trowel.   Then an hour goes by while I try to ferret the quack roots out from the ornamental grasses before I remember my original chore was to finish planting the seeds in the greenhouse.  Duh, but first I'll take the Girls their water and then on the way back from the chicken coop I duck under a low branch on the apple tree and realize this pruning should have been done much earlier, but where's my pruners?

Sound familiar?  One thing truly does lead to another in gardening, especially.  And the miles on my pedometer reach some pretty impressive numbers (8.2 miles on Tuesday) which is sad, considering they were all accumulated while I walked in circles.
I've been swamped with outdoor work since we've had such a very late spring.  And tonight, I am truly tired clear through to my bones.  Time to get some rest, it's late.

I miss posting and look forward to catching up on all of your blogs as soon as this craziness subsides a bit.

I did manage to catch up on the laundry this past Monday, and  I swear we had just about as many pairs of underwear on the washline as this Dutchman's Breeches is displaying.
Housework is always put on the back burner during gardening season.  (But,  I put it on the back burner for stained glass season, too--ahem, so any spare time is spent chasing the Dust Kangaroos (they are WAY bigger than mere bunnies now) around the abode.

I want to sincerely thank you all for the wonderfully uplifting and comforting comments regarding my little dog Pudding's recent bout of ill health.  As I write this post she is resting comfortably on the couch next to me.  The new medication seems to be working quite well, and she is almost back to her old joyous self.  We're thankful for the gift of extra time and also for your care and concern.  It is so nice to know there are other people who understand the special ties of love we all have for our dear pets.  They are a blessing and so are all of you!

Good day Karen. I missed your last post about your sweet dog, Pudding, and am glad to know she is doing better. Our pets are so dear to us and we do worry when they are sick. I'm glad spring has finally arrived there! It's been a bad one for a lot of people while we've been basking in sunshine for 13 days straight after a cold, wet April. Rain is in the forecast but we really need it to put out the many forest fires burning in our province. Your GADS could easily apply to my daily life all year around. Ha ha. Sometimes I wonder how my head works at all. :) Enjoy the nice weather and your gardens. Hugs, Pam

I'm so glad Pudding's is feeling better. I made a trip to the Vet's with Jazi last weekend also. Crazy how we are so attached to our pets.

I have a huge case of GADS!! But I think that is a garden's life. Always something that needs to be done. I just need a swift kick to get in gear. I've been lazy after work this week. Enjoy your day!!!

I'm so glad Pudding is doing better! I've had plenty of days where I walk in circles, or spin my wheels, so I know how you feel. I'm so happy to hear that spring seems to have finally arrived.

I'm so glad to hear that Pudding is getting better.

Thank you for admitting and describing GADS and its awful repercussions. It's so nice for others to admit that they suffer from such a terrible illness. One of the side effects of GADS for me is a sun burn. If I don't intentionally put sunscreen on (even if I'm JUST taking out the garbage) every morning, GADS will cause me to spend an hour in the bright sunshine without realizing it and get a sun burn. GADS - terrible disease.

That's a LOT of walking! I can't wait to be doing the same --- we're moving to the acreage NEXT WEEK!! And the pictures of the flowers are BEAUTIFUL! I am realizing that I look forward to the summer of posts with your garden updates with a happy heart!

So glad to read that Pudding is feeling better. I found myself nodding my head as I read your post. I, too, go round and round in circles, seemingly doing everything and yet it looks like nothing is getting done! I'm trying to concentrate on one area a day this year. We'll see how that goes! Love your Dutchman's breeches!

Karen there isn't a gardener alive who can't relate to your lament re going in circles...... Lovely blooms already showing in the garden perhaps one needs to stop and smell the roses once in a while to appreciate all the hard work. Now if Castle Aargh gets done what an ideal spot to sit and enjoy. not that you would LOL ... As a blog buddy I enjoy the peek in your gardening world.
Happy to hear Pudding is doing better.

Hello my dear friend, where does time go? I am so pleased to read that pudding is feeling so much better. I can just see you now charging around your garden. Trowel in hand chicken under your arm and seed packet in your pocket reciting walk walk walk lift and squat!

My gardening is on hold for the next few weeks I have a date with a very nice man and a very sharp scalpel tomorrow morning. I can honestly say I would rather be in the gym …stop laughing I know you are because I know you know I hate exercise. Give Pudding a cuddle from me x

Oh I love those daffodils - I definitely don't concentrate on much unless it is gardening!

I am so glad pudding is doing better... we do so love our furbabies! I do believe spring has sprung here too, even though we had another bit of a snow blizzard this past weekend... most of our snow has gone, but nothing has popped through the soil yet! Time to start raking the lawns! Cheers~
