Waiting for the sunshine
It rained this morning, just like the friendly, cheery, over-the-top meteorologist said it would. I've never been one to throw things at television sets just because I don't like what I'm hearing (something my dear departed father was fond of doing, ha) but the temptation was almost unbearable after I heard the forecast for rain, rain, and yes, more rain. I would hate to be a weatherperson, especially this year.
Despite all the rain, the rudbeckias and coneflowers are blooming by the bushel!
The quarry pond is at an all-time July high, too. Usually we battle with low-water levels, so this is a first.
Since it is so wet out, we are thinking about taking a small road trip today....we shouldn't run away from the work, but it will be here when we get back, right??

Lovely garden shots. You complain and I wish we had more rain, it is our rainy season and not much is coming our way.
Yes, we had near-drought conditions for almost five summers in a row, but just last week we had 6 inches of rain, and the past few months are breaking all precip records. Feast or famine--I wish we could share it with everyone who needs it!
